A 19-year-old man sustained life-threatening injuries in a two-vehicle crash in San Diego’s Black Mountain Ranch neighborhood early Saturday, August 23, 2025.
According to the San Diego Police Department, the collision was reported at around 12:19 a.m. in the 15000 block of Carmel Valley Road.
Authorities said the 19-year-old man was driving eastbound in a Honda Civic at a high rate of speed when his vehicle drifted onto the south sidewalk. He lost control, crossed the lanes, and struck a tree before crashing into an oncoming Honda Accord driven by an 18-year-old man.
The Civic driver was ejected and suffered severe brain injuries and multiple fractures. Both drivers were transported to hospitals for treatment.
Police said alcohol was a factor in the crash.
Authorities continue to investigate the incident.
