Two people remain missing after their Chevrolet Silverado crashed into the Delta-Mendota Canal near Tracy on Friday morning, September 19, 2025.
According to the California Highway Patrol, officers began receiving reports around 8:00 a.m. that a female pedestrian was waving down northbound traffic on Interstate 5 near Highway 132. The woman stated she had been a passenger in the vehicle that entered the canal and reported that two other occupants were inside.
CHP observed tire tracks and debris leading to the canal’s edge. A dive team located the vehicle submerged in the canal but found no one inside, and the search for the missing occupants was concluded. Authorities continue to investigate the crash.
