At least one person was killed in a crash in Pauma Valley, San Diego County, on Friday afternoon, October 3, 2025.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash was reported around 12:30 p.m. at the intersection of State Route 76 and Cole Grade Road.
CHP confirmed the fatality, though the identity of the victim has not yet been released. By 12:44 p.m., officers ordered a full closure of Cole Grade Road and SR-76 in both directions, resulting in traffic delays that extended to Pala Reservation Road. North County Fire Protection District crews responded, and Caltrans assisted with traffic control.
Authorities stated that the roads would remain closed for several hours while the CHP investigation continues. Drivers were advised to avoid the area and seek alternate routes. Details regarding the cause of the collision are still under investigation.
