A man was killed and a woman suffered major injuries after a UTV crashed into almond trees on Rockpile Road south of Buena Vista Boulevard near Arvin in Kern County on Saturday afternoon, November 22, 2025.
According to the California Highway Patrol, officers were dispatched around 12:35 p.m. for a single-vehicle crash involving a UTV traveling south on Rockpile Road.
Investigators said a 20-year-old woman was driving the vehicle with a male passenger of unknown age at an undetermined high rate of speed. For reasons still unknown, the UTV veered off the roadway, struck an almond tree, continued forward, and hit another. The vehicle came to rest against the second tree.
The male passenger sustained major injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene, while the driver suffered major injuries and was taken to Kern Medical.
Authorities said alcohol and drugs did not appear to be factors. The investigation is ongoing.
