A pedestrian was killed, and another suffered major injuries after being struck by a pickup truck on Mettler Road, west of Ham Lane, in Lodi on Thursday evening, January 2, 2025.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash occurred around 5:30 p.m. when two women walking on Mettler Road were hit by a pickup truck. The driver stated that he did not see the pedestrians until they were directly in front of his vehicle.
One woman was thrown onto the north shoulder and pronounced dead at the scene at 5:49 p.m. The second woman was taken to a local hospital with major but non-life-threatening injuries.
The driver of the pickup truck stopped at the scene and assisted one of the pedestrians.
