[01-07-2025] Several Injured, Including Firefighter, in Wind-Driven Palisades FireThe fast-moving Palisades Fire in Los Angeles County has left several people injured, including at least one firefighter, as it expanded to nearly 3,000 acres on Tuesday, January 7, 2025.

The fire was first reported around 10:30 a.m. in the 1100 block of North Piedra Morada Drive. By evening, it had spread rapidly due to unrelenting Santa Ana winds, with officials expecting further growth.

According to Los Angeles Fire Department officials, multiple civilians sustained burn injuries, including facial and hand injuries, with several seeking shelter at Duke’s Malibu on Pacific Coast Highway. Additional burn victims were reported around 9 p.m. near Big Rock, less than two miles from Duke’s Malibu.

A 25-year-old female firefighter also sustained a serious head injury while battling the blaze. She received immediate treatment at the scene and was transported to a local hospital for further evaluation, according to Erik Scott, LAFD Public Information Officer.

There has been no official estimate of structures damaged or destroyed, though numerous homes, vehicles, and other property were engulfed in flames.

The fire remains active, and authorities continue to monitor and respond to the evolving situation.
