[01-28-2026] Los Angeles County, CA – Person Killed After Being Struck by Semi-Truck on Lake Hughes Rd. Off-Ramp in Castaic

A person died after being struck by a semi-truck in Castaic on Wednesday morning, January 28, 2026.

According to the California Highway Patrol Newhall-area Office, officers were dispatched to the scene at approximately 6:47 a.m. following reports of a collision on the northbound off-ramp of Lake Hughes Road.

CHP officials stated that when units arrived, the semi-truck involved was no longer at the scene. Authorities indicated the incident is being investigated as a hit-and-run. 

Lake Hughes Road was temporarily closed while officers conducted their investigation and cleared the area.

The identity of the victim has not been released at this time.

The crash remains under investigation.
