An elderly man was killed in a hit-and-run crash in the town of Apple Valley, San Bernardino County, on Friday evening, February 13, 2026.
The crash occurred at around 7:06 p.m. on Apple Valley Road near Kasota Road. The incident was later confirmed as a fatality.
According to spokeswoman Jenny L. Smith of the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, the pedestrian’s body was located in the northbound lane near the shoulder of Apple Valley Road.
Sheriff’s officials later confirmed the victim was an elderly male who sustained significant injuries. Authorities have not identified a suspect driver, and details about a possible vehicle have not been released. The coroner is working to identify and notify next of kin.
A sheriff’s helicopter searched the area for approximately one hour following the crash. Apple Valley Road was closed between Symeron Road and Kinai Road during the investigation, and Town of Apple Valley Public Works employees assisted deputies with establishing a hard road closure.
