A 28-year-old Antioch woman was killed, and several others were injured in a four-vehicle collision on Highway 4 in the north tip of Stanislaus County on Friday afternoon, February 20, 2026.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash occurred around 2:15 p.m. east of Dunton Road.
Investigators said a 2025 Jeep SUV traveling eastbound on SR-4 attempted to pass another vehicle by crossing over solid double yellow lines. The Jeep then collided head-on with a westbound 2024 Tesla truck.
The Jeep overturned onto its roof, and the Tesla lost control, striking an eastbound 2021 Subaru sedan. The impact caused a wheel from the Subaru to detach and strike a westbound 2016 Hyundai SUV. The Subaru later struck a metal fence and came to rest in a field. All four vehicles sustained major damage.
The 28-year-old woman riding in the Jeep was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Jeep, 24-year-old Kevyn C. of Antioch, suffered minor injuries and was transported to a hospital. Three additional passengers in the Jeep also sustained minor injuries.
The 51-year-old driver of the Tesla, from Angels Camp, suffered minor injuries. The driver of the Subaru, a 38-year-old Oakland man, and his two passengers, including a 1-year-old girl, were not injured. The driver of the Hyundai, a 53-year-old man from Copperopolis, and his passenger were also uninjured.
CHP reported that all occupants were wearing seatbelts and that alcohol and drugs were not factors in the crash.
The investigation remains ongoing.
What A Lawyer Can Do For You
Many victims put off calling a lawyer even if they sustain injuries after an accident. However, lawyers can help you in many ways. They can provide you with police reports, CCTV footage, and witness statements to strengthen your case. Your attorney will also negotiate with insurance companies to get you fair compensation. The best part is that they will do all of these things for you at no upfront cost. So if you’re injured in an accident, hire a personal injury attorney to recover medical bills, car repair costs, lost wages, and pain and suffering.
