A secondary crash occurred after a driver became distracted while passing an earlier accident scene in Madera County on Wednesday afternoon, March 4, 2026.
According to the California Highway Patrol, officers responded to the scene, where traffic was slowing due to an initial crash near an overpass.
Dash camera footage from a CHP patrol vehicle shows vehicles moving slowly through the area, with the patrol car’s emergency lights activated.
As traffic passed the scene, one vehicle appeared to be distracted by the earlier crash, a phenomenon often referred to as “rubbernecking.” Moments later, that vehicle collided with another car, triggering a second crash in the lanes nearby.
Fortunately, no serious injuries were reported. CHP officials are reminding drivers to stay focused on the road and avoid slowing down to observe crash scenes. They urge drivers to maintain a safe distance from other vehicles and continue moving through the area to prevent further accidents.
What A Lawyer Can Do For You
Many victims put off calling a lawyer even if they sustain injuries after an accident. However, lawyers can help you in many ways. They can provide you with police reports, CCTV footage, and witness statements to strengthen your case. Your attorney will also negotiate with insurance companies to get you fair compensation. The best part is that they will do all of these things for you at no upfront cost. So if you’re injured in an accident, hire a personal injury attorney to recover medical bills, car repair costs, lost wages, and pain and suffering.
