A bicyclist was killed in a hit-and-run crash in Pleasant Hill, Contra Costa County, early Sunday morning, March 8, 2026.
According to the Pleasant Hill Police Department, officers responded just before 2:00 a.m. at the intersection of Contra Costa Boulevard and Taylor Boulevard.
When officers arrived, they found the cyclist, a 41-year-old woman, had been struck by a vehicle. She sustained critical injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities have not released her identity pending confirmation and notification of next of kin.
Police said the driver fled the scene following the collision. During the investigation, officers located the suspected vehicle, a dark-colored Mazda SUV, parked and unoccupied several blocks away in Concord, with damage consistent with a recent crash.
Officers later took the vehicle’s owner, a 45-year-old Concord resident, into custody on suspicion of felony hit-and-run and vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated.
The investigation remains ongoing.
