A man was fatally struck by an SUV in Long Beach on Friday evening, March 27, 2026.
According to the Long Beach Police Department, officers responded to the scene at about 8:00 p.m. near Del Amo Boulevard and Locust Avenue.
A 2023 Hyundai Tucson was traveling westbound on Del Amo when the pedestrian ran into the lanes of traffic and was struck by the vehicle. Paramedics transported the man to a hospital, where he later died from his injuries. The driver of the SUV remained at the scene and cooperated with authorities.
At this time, speed, distracted driving, and driving under the influence are not believed to have played a role in the collision. The identity of the decedent is being withheld pending notification of the next of kin.
The investigation is ongoing.
