A big rig crashed through a center divider and jackknifed onto the opposite side of the 118 Freeway in Granada Hills, Los Angeles County, on Thursday morning, April 9, 2026.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash was reported shortly after 5:30 a.m. near the 405 Freeway connector.
The big rig was traveling eastbound when it smashed through the center divider and came to a stop in the westbound lanes of the 118 Freeway. Reports indicate significant damage to the trailer portion of the big rig.
Several lanes were closed on both sides of the freeway, and CHP officials stated that repairs to the center divider would take about four more hours, with lanes expected to remain closed until 10 a.m.
A separate car may have been involved in the crash, but further details about the cause remain unavailable.
