A man was struck and killed by a big rig after exiting his SUV on the northbound 5 Freeway near the Sunland Boulevard off-ramp in Sun Valley, Los Angeles, on Sunday morning, April 13, 2025.
According to the California Highway Patrol, at around 9:25 a.m., a caller reported that the man had exited a dark-colored SUV and ran into traffic, where he was struck by a passing big rig.
A SigAlert was issued at 9:48 a.m., closing all northbound lanes of the freeway. A representative from the Los Angeles County Office of Medical Examiner was called to the scene at 10:28 a.m.
