A 38-year-old bicyclist was critically injured in a hit-and-run crash in East Oakland on Monday night, April 27, 2026.
According to authorities, the crash occurred around 7:24 p.m. at the intersection of 23rd Avenue and East 22nd Street.
Police reported that the bicyclist had just turned onto 23rd Avenue from East 22nd Street when he was struck by a black Land Rover SUV that did not stop. The vehicle was last seen heading southbound on 23rd Avenue.
The injured man, who is believed to be unhoused, was ejected onto the sidewalk and suffered major injuries. He was listed in grave condition.
The driver of the SUV remains unidentified, and it is unclear whether drugs or alcohol were factors in the crash.
