[05-01-2025] Pedestrian Killed in Crash on Crenshaw Boulevard Near 235th Street in TorranceA pedestrian was killed after being struck by a vehicle in Torrance early Thursday morning, May 1, 2025.

According to the Torrance Police Department, the crash occurred shortly after 5:25 a.m. on Crenshaw Boulevard near 235th Street.

A 2013 Jeep traveling southbound on Crenshaw Boulevard struck a man who was walking outside of a crosswalk. The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the Jeep, a 70-year-old man, was not injured and remained at the scene to cooperate with investigators.

Northbound and southbound lanes of Crenshaw Boulevard between 235th and 237th streets were closed for about five hours as the Torrance Police Department Traffic Division conducted its investigation.

Anyone with information regarding the collision is urged to contact the Traffic Division at (310) 618-5557. The investigation remains ongoing.
