A man was killed after being struck by a vehicle while standing outside his disabled pickup truck on eastbound State Route 78 near Vista Village Drive in Vista on Saturday night, May 3, 2025.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash occurred at approximately 11:31 p.m. when Hunter B., a 26-year-old resident of Escondido, was outside his vehicle on the highway. Responding paramedics arrived at the scene and pronounced him dead at 11:43 p.m.
Authorities stated that the man died from multiple blunt force injuries. No contributing conditions were noted, and the manner of death was ruled accidental.
The incident remains under investigation by the CHP.
