A scooter rider was killed after being struck by a vehicle in Long Beach on Saturday morning, May 4, 2024.
According to the Long Beach Police Department, the collision happened around 6:20 a.m. at the intersection of Ximeno Avenue and Shaw Street.
Authorities stated that a woman was driving a Ford C-Max approaching south on Ximeno when she collided with the scooter rider. It is unclear whether the victim had run a stop sign before the place of the accident.
Police said that the rider, identified only as a man, was transported to a hospital, where he died. The victim’s identity was withheld pending notification of his family. The woman remained at the scene and cooperated with the responding officials.
The circumstances surrounding the collision are under investigation. No further information was released.
