[05-09-2025] Carjacking Suspect Critically Injured, Two Others Hurt in Torrance CrashA suspected carjacker was critically injured and two others were hurt in a two-vehicle crash at a Torrance intersection on Friday morning, May 9, 2025.

According to Torrance police, the crash occurred around 7:05 a.m. at the intersection of Carson Street and Cabrillo Avenue. 

Officers had been alerted to a gray Kia sedan flagged by a license-plate reader as a carjacked vehicle reported in Hollywood on Thursday, May 8.

Authorities stated that officers did not initiate a pursuit, but the driver fled and subsequently crashed into a Ford F-350 pickup truck. Officers located about a quarter-mile away witnessed the collision.

The female suspect driving the Kia was transported by ambulance to Harbor-UCLA Medical Center, where she was listed in critical condition.

Two passengers in the pickup truck were also transported to local hospitals with injuries described as non-life-threatening.

The incident remains under investigation by the Torrance Police Department.
