A man was killed after being struck by a vehicle while riding his bicycle in east Bakersfield early Thursday morning, June 4, 2026.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash occurred just after midnight on southbound Weedpatch Highway, just south of Eucalyptus Drive.
Authorities reported that a 39-year-old male bicyclist was struck by a male driver in an Infiniti sedan traveling in the same direction. The bicyclist was ejected and suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
CHP stated that drugs and alcohol do not appear to have been factors for the driver. It is unknown whether they played a role in the bicyclist’s death.
Authorities continue to investigate the cause of the collision.
