[07-02-2024] Pedestrian Killed After Being Struck By Hit-And-Run Vehicle in ComptonA pedestrian was killed after being struck by a hit-and-run vehicle in Compton on Tuesday evening, June 2, 2024. 

According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash happened around 9:03 p.m. at the intersection of Rosecrans and Keene Avenues. 

Authorities stated that a pedestrian, whose name, age, and gender were not immediately known, was found in the traffic lanes on Rosecrans. Reports said they were struck by an unspecified vehicle that drove away from the scene after the collision. As of this writing, there was no description available of the identity of the suspect and the vehicle. 

Police said that the victim was pronounced dead at the scene. There is no word yet on what the pedestrian was doing on the road. It is unknown whether drugs, alcohol, or speeding played a role. 

The hit-and-run driver is still at large. Anyone with information on the crash is encouraged to contact the authorities and help determine the circumstances surrounding the crash.
