[07-03-2024] Three Passengers Killed, Juvenile Driver Injured Following Fiery Single-Vehicle DUI Crash in CastaicThree passengers were killed while their juvenile driver was injured following a fiery single-vehicle DUI crash in Castaic, Los Angeles County, early Wednesday morning, July 3, 2024.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the deadly collision happened at about 12:30 a.m. along The Old Road, south of Parker Road and west of the Golden State (5) Freeway.

CHP said that a Toyota was heading northbound on The Old Road when its driver, a female teenager, lost control of the car and smashed it into the sidewalk, a tree, and finally, a street light. The impact of the collision split the Toyota into pieces before engulfing in flames.

The three passengers inside the Toyota, who authorities believe to be two men and a woman in their teens or early 20s, died at the scene. None of the victims were publicly identified yet.

The sole survivor of the fiery incident was the juvenile driver. She was transported to a local hospital for treatment after sustaining only minor injuries. There, she was determined to be under the influence of alcohol and was subsequently arrested.

Additional information was not immediately available. The CHP is still investigating the fatal crash.
