[07-05-2026] Los Angeles County, CA – One Killed, Another Injured in Wrong-Way Crash in South LA

A 76-year-old man was killed, and another person was injured in a wrong-way crash on the Harbor (110) Freeway in South Los Angeles on Sunday morning, July 5, 2026.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash occurred around 10:15 a.m. on the southbound freeway south of Vernon Avenue. Authorities had received reports of a vehicle traveling northbound in the southbound lanes shortly before the collision.

CHP said a silver Honda Civic was traveling the wrong way when it collided head-on with a gray Nissan Murano. The driver of the Honda Civic, identified as Edmund D. by the Medical Examiner’s Office, was pronounced dead.

Another person was transported to a hospital for treatment. Their condition has not been released. 

Officers have not determined whether drugs or alcohol contributed to the collision. The CHP continues to investigate the incident.
