Five people were injured following a two-vehicle collision near Los Olivos, Santa Barbara County, on Monday morning, July 8, 2024.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash happened at about 10:52 a.m. on Highway 154 at Foxen Canyon Road in the Santa Ynez Valley.
CHP said the incident involved two pickup trucks, one of which was hauling a cattle trailer. It is not immediately known how the two vehicles came into contact, and the at-fault party is still unclear. Responders described the collision as something that would result in a heavy impact on side doors.
Two people in the pickup with the cattle trailer reportedly suffered minor injuries. Meanwhile, three people in the other vehicle involved were rushed to the hospital after sustaining more serious injuries. It is said that two of the three people hospitalized were airlifted to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital with major injuries.
The identities and the current statuses of the people involved in the crash are currently unavailable.
No further information was provided at this time. CHP is still investigating the official cause of the accident and the factors that may have contributed to it.
