Four people were killed in a fiery multi-vehicle crash involving a suspected DUI driver on the 605 Freeway in Norwalk early Sunday morning, July 20, 2025.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash occurred just before 1:00 a.m. in the southbound lanes of the freeway, just north of Rosecrans Avenue.
Authorities said 26-year-old Iris S. of Bellflower, believed to be under the influence of alcohol, was driving a Kia at high speed when she crashed into a Nissan that had stalled in the middle of the freeway after a prior collision with a CHP vehicle.
The impact caused the Nissan to catch fire, killing all four occupants who were trapped inside. Their identities have not yet been released.
Iris S. and her passenger were transported to the hospital with major injuries. The CHP officer involved in the earlier crash was not injured.
Iris S. was arrested and is facing multiple felony charges, including DUI causing injury and DUI causing injury with a blood alcohol content of 0.08% or higher.
