[07-25-2024] Pedestrian Killed Following Car Hauler Vs. Big Rig Crash Along Highway 99A pedestrian was killed following a car hauler vs. big rig crash in Madera County on Thursday afternoon, July 25, 2024. 

According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision happened in the northbound lanes of Highway 99, between Avenue 9 and Avenue 12. 

Authorities said that a car hauler was stopped on the side of the highway when, for some reason, another big rig traveling north veered onto the shoulder and sideswiped the car hauler. 

The pedestrian, who was working under the car hauler, sustained major injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. There is no word yet on the identity of the deceased. It is unknown why the big rig veered onto the shoulder.

No further details were released, and the authorities are gathering all the necessary information to determine the circumstances surrounding the crash.
