[08-05-2026] Los Angeles County, CA – One Killed, Three Injured After Vehicle Plunges Off Angeles Crest Highway Near La Cañada Flintridge

One person was killed, and three others were injured after a vehicle went off Angeles Crest Highway near La Cañada Flintridge in Los Angeles County, on Wednesday night, August 5, 2026.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash occurred around 10:10 p.m. near mile marker 26.50 on Angeles Crest Highway. 

Investigators said the vehicle left the roadway for reasons that remain under investigation and plunged hundreds of feet down the hillside.

Los Angeles County Fire Department search and rescue teams, assisted by personnel from the Pasadena, Glendale, and Montrose fire agencies, conducted a rope rescue operation to reach the four occupants trapped inside the heavily damaged vehicle. 

Rescue crews used hydraulic extrication tools to free the victims before bringing them up the steep terrain in rescue baskets. 

A man in his 20s died from his injuries, while another man and two women, all in their early 20s, sustained moderate to significant injuries. One firefighter also suffered a knee injury and was transported to a local hospital.

The CHP continues to investigate the cause of the crash.
