A motorcycle rider was injured after a DUI collision in Saugus, Santa Clarita, on Wednesday evening, August 14, 2024.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident occurred around 8:35 p.m. near Lowridge Place on San Francisquito Canyon Road.
Authorities stated that a 51-year-old man was driving a Nissan sedan southbound on San Francisquito Canyon Road when he veered across the double-yellow lines due to intoxication.
The driver’s maneuver forced a Triumph motorcycle heading northbound to take evasive action to avoid a collision, resulting in the Nissan crashing into a nearby dirt embankment.
The driver remained at the scene until officers arrived and was subsequently arrested on suspicion of felony DUI, due to the injuries sustained by the motorcycle rider. He was held in lieu of $125,000 bail.
