A 43-year-old pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle after a hit-and-run crash in South Los Angeles on Friday night, August 16, 2024.
According to the Los Angeles Police Department, the incident occurred around 10:00 p.m. at the intersection of 88th Street and Central Avenue.
Officers responded to the scene and found the victim lying on the ground. The pedestrian was walking outside the crosswalk when they were hit by a vehicle.
Los Angeles Fire Department personnel arrived and attempted life-saving measures, but the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the vehicle fled the scene without stopping to render aid and continued driving after the collision. The suspect remains at large.
The city is offering a reward of up to $25,000 for information leading to the suspect’s identity, arrest, and conviction.
