[08-18-2025] 53-Year-Old Woman Killed, Two Injured in Crash on Highway 233 at Avenue 22A 53-year-old woman from Merced was killed in a two-vehicle collision in Madera County on Monday morning, August 18, 2025.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash happened at around 8:40 a.m. on Highway 233 (Robertson Boulevard) at Avenue 22.

Authorities said a 19-year-old Madera man was driving a white 2012 Chevrolet Silverado southbound on Highway 233 when he reportedly fell asleep at the wheel. The pickup drifted into the northbound lane, where it collided with a black 2015 BMW 320i carrying two women from Merced.

The Chevrolet overturned onto its left side, while the BMW came to rest on its wheels along the west dirt shoulder. The passenger in the BMW, a 53-year-old woman, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Both drivers sustained minor injuries. The 46-year-old woman driving the BMW was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Authorities continue to investigate the collision.
