A motorcyclist was killed in a crash on Interstate 405 in the San Fernando Valley, Los Angeles County, on Wednesday morning, August 26, 2026.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision occurred shortly before 11:20 a.m. on southbound I-405 near Burbank Boulevard, north of the 101 Freeway.
Dashcam footage appears to show a loose tire bouncing over the center divider and entering the southbound lanes shortly before the motorcyclist fell from the motorcycle. The rider then slid into traffic and was struck by a white Toyota SUV.
Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics responded and pronounced the motorcyclist dead at the scene. Authorities have not yet released the victim’s identity.
The Toyota driver remained at the scene and appeared to cooperate with investigators.
CHP has not confirmed whether the loose tire contributed to the collision or released information about its owner.
The investigation is ongoing.
