According to Whittier Police, officers responded around 8:33 a.m. and found the man pinned under the vehicle. Firefighters pronounced him dead at the scene. The medical examiner’s office had not yet publicly released the identity of the victim.

The worker was employed by Pave West, a general engineering contractor specializing in fine grading and asphalt paving. Authorities stated that the construction project was not part of any city project. Details on the cause of the accident have not been disclosed.

City officials extended condolences to the victim’s family and loved ones following the incident. Authorities continue to investigate the collision.
