A crash involving two semi-trucks spilled approximately 3,000 pounds of crude oil onto Highway 33 north of South 7th Avenue, just outside Avenal in Kings County, on Thursday morning, October 23, 2025.
According to fire officials, the collision occurred shortly after 6 a.m. and resulted in crude oil and debris covering the roadway.
Officials said another 3,700 pounds of oil would need to be transferred to a separate container to prevent additional spillage.
Both truck drivers sustained minor injuries and declined transport to the hospital.
Authorities continue to investigate the cause of the crash.
