[10-25-2025] DUI Arrest After Fatal Wrong-Way Collision on Interstate 5 North of Utica AvenueA 21-year-old man from Hesperia was arrested on suspicion of DUI after a crash on Interstate 5 in Kings County that killed a man from Bakersfield on Saturday, October 25, 2025.

According to the California Highway Patrol, officers responded around 8:30 p.m. to a report of a wrong-way driver on northbound Interstate 5, north of Utica Avenue.

Investigators said Josue G., 21, of Hesperia, was driving a Chevrolet Suburban southbound in the northbound lanes of the freeway when he collided head-on with a Chevrolet Malibu. The front of the Suburban also struck the left side of a Subaru Legacy.

The driver of the Subaru, a 51-year-old man from Pleasanton, was not injured. The driver of the Malibu, a man from Bakersfield, sustained major injuries and later died.

The driver of the Suburban suffered minor injuries and was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol.
