[11-01-2025] Two Injured, Driver Arrested for DUI After Five-Vehicle Crash on The Old Road and Rye Canyon RoadTwo people were hospitalized, and one driver was arrested under suspicion of felony driving under the influence after a five-vehicle crash in Santa Clarita on Saturday afternoon, November 1, 2025.

The crash occurred around 2:57 p.m. on The Old Road near Rye Canyon Road, according to the California Highway Patrol Newhall-area Office. 

Preliminary information indicated that a vehicle traveling southbound on The Old Road veered into oncoming traffic and struck two vehicles heading in the opposite direction. The impact caused one vehicle to overturn and triggered a chain reaction involving two additional vehicles.

The driver who veered into oncoming lanes was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence. Two people were injured and transported to a hospital in unknown condition, according to CHP Officer Carlos Burgos-Lopez.

The driver was reportedly traveling with a husky at the time of the crash. Los Angeles County Animal Care and Control personnel responded and took the dog to the Castaic Animal Care Center.

Fred Fielding, a spokesman for the Los Angeles County Fire Department, said firefighters were dispatched at 2:58 p.m. and arrived within seven minutes. Fire department records indicated there were no trapped parties and no transports were reported.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
