[05-12-2026] Los Angeles County, CA – One Killed, Two Injured in Multi-Vehicle Crash in South LA

An 18-year-old man was killed, and two others were injured following a multi-vehicle crash in South Los Angeles on Tuesday afternoon, May 12, 2026.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision occurred at the intersection of West 96th Street and South Vermont Avenue in the Westmont neighborhood.

Authorities reported that at least five vehicles were involved in the crash. Debris from the collision was scattered across the intersection, and at least one vehicle struck a tree.

The Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner identified the deceased victim as 18-year-old Juan S. Two other people sustained injuries in the collision, though the extent of their injuries has not been disclosed.

Officials have not confirmed the cause of the crash. Witnesses reported that one of the vehicles appeared to be speeding before the incident, but investigators have not verified that information.
