A child was killed after being struck by a vehicle in Long Beach on Saturday afternoon, May 16, 2026.
According to the Long Beach Police Department, the incident was reported around 4:39 p.m. near Paramount Boulevard and 56th Street.
Authorities stated that a 2020 Honda Civic was traveling southbound on Paramount Boulevard when a child under the age of 10 reportedly ran into the roadway and was struck by the vehicle.
Long Beach Fire Department personnel responded to the scene and transported the child to a hospital, where the victim was later pronounced dead.
Officials said that the 27-year-old driver, a resident of Paramount, remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators.
Police stated that speed, distracted driving, and driving under the influence are not believed to have been factors in the collision.
Authorities continue to investigate the incident.
