[07-04-2026] Los Angeles County, CA – Multiple Injured After SUV Carrying 12 People Overturns on 5 Freeway in Sun Valley

Multiple people were injured after an SUV carrying 12 occupants crashed and overturned on the 5 Freeway in Sun Valley, Los Angeles County, early Saturday morning, July 4, 2026.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash occurred around 1:25 a.m. on the northbound side of the freeway, south of Sheldon Street.

Authorities said witnesses reported that a black SUV spun out, overturned onto its roof, and came to rest blocking freeway lanes.

The CHP later confirmed that approximately 10 people required medical attention for reported complaints of pain. It was not immediately confirmed whether anyone was transported to a hospital.

The CHP continues to investigate the cause of the crash.
