A 31-year-old man riding an electric scooter was killed in a collision with a pickup truck in Long Beach on Monday morning, August 10, 2026.
According to the Long Beach Police Department, officers responded to the incident at around 10 a.m. near the 5300 block of Walton Street.
A preliminary investigation indicated that a 2024 Toyota Tundra was traveling eastbound on Walton Street as the e-scooter rider turned westbound onto Walton Street from Stanbridge Avenue. Police said the scooter drifted into the eastbound side of the roadway and collided with the pickup truck. The Tundra driver was attempting to slow down when the collision occurred.
Officers found the rider in the roadway. Officers and a bystander performed lifesaving measures, but Long Beach Fire Department personnel later pronounced the man dead at the scene. Authorities have not released his identity.
Police said speed, distracted driving, and impaired driving do not appear to be factors in the collision.
The Long Beach Police Department continues to investigate the fatal crash.
