[09-24-2026] Los Angeles County, CA – 82-Year-Old Woman Critically Injured After Being Struck By Vehicle in Santa Monica

An 82-year-old woman was critically injured after being struck by a vehicle while walking in a marked crosswalk in downtown Santa Monica on Thursday evening, September 24, 2026.

According to the Santa Monica Police Department, the incident occurred at around 5:47 p.m. at 5th Street and Wilshire Boulevard.

Police said a preliminary investigation indicated the woman was walking southbound in the marked crosswalk on the east side of the intersection when a vehicle making a left turn from southbound 5th Street onto eastbound Wilshire Boulevard struck her.

Santa Monica Fire Department personnel transported the woman to a local hospital, where she remained in critical condition as of Friday morning.

The driver remained at the scene and is cooperating with investigators. Police said DUI was not a factor. The incident remains under investigation.
