[05-19-2024] One Person Killed, Three Others Injured Following Two-Vehicle Head-On Crash Along Highway 1 in CambriaOne person was killed, while three others were injured following a two-vehicle head-on crash in Cambria, San Luis Obispo County, on Sunday afternoon, May 19, 2024.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the deadly collision happened at about 3:20 p.m. in the northbound lane of Highway 1, north of Burton Drive.

CHP officers said that a vehicle occupied by two people was traveling northbound on Highway 1 when, for some reason, it veered into the southbound lane and directly in front of another vehicle, resulting in a head-on collision.

The driver of the vehicle that swerved into the opposite lane, a 20-year-old woman from Rocklin, was fatally injured as a result of the incident. Her passenger, a 19-year-old Flagstaff, Arizona resident, was transported to a nearby hospital after sustaining major injuries.

The southbound vehicle that got hit also had two occupants at the time of the crash. The driver, a 56-year-old man, sustained major injuries, while his passenger, a 59-year-old woman, suffered moderate injuries. Both were taken to the hospital for further medical care.

CHP believes that driver impairment and distracted driving are not factors in the fatal collision.
