[05-31-2024] At Least Two People Injured After Police Pursuit Led To Three-Vehicle Collision in HollywoodAt least two people were injured after a police pursuit led to a three-vehicle collision in Los Angeles on Friday night, May 31, 2024.

According to the Los Angeles Police Department, the incident occurred at about 9:30 p.m. at the Sunset Boulevard and Vine Street intersection in Hollywood.

LAPD said that they initially responded to a reported shooting at the 5600 block of Franklin Avenue. Upon arrival, they saw the suspect, who matched the description given to them, and chased him on foot. The suspect, later identified as 35-year-old Cornell H., then got into a parked car nearby and sped off, prompting a police chase.

It is said that the suspect first went west on Hollywood Boulevard from Wilton Place before eventually turning east on Sunset Boulevard, where his vehicle crashed into two other vehicles at the intersection with Vine Street.

LAPD added that Cornell H. then quickly went out of the car following the crash and tried running away on foot. After a brief foot chase, police were able to apprehend the suspect, who they said was carrying “a live round.”

One of the drivers of the two other vehicles involved was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. The other driver, meanwhile, declined medical transport despite complaints of pain.

Cornell H. was also hurt as a result of the incident. He reportedly sustained minor injuries, particularly in his head. Following treatment at a local hospital, he was released to police custody.
