[02-04-2025] 14-Year-Old Student Injured in Vehicle-Scooter Collision Near West Ranch High SchoolA 14-year-old student riding an electric scooter sustained injuries after being struck by a pickup truck near West Ranch High School in Stevenson Ranch, Los Angeles County, on Tuesday, February 4, 2025.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident was first reported by the student involved to a school resource deputy on campus. The investigation was then turned over to the CHP due to the crash’s location.

CHP Officer Carlos Burgos-Lopez stated that the student was struck by a white pickup truck whose driver remained at the scene and cooperated with authorities. The student sustained minor injuries and was transported to a hospital for further evaluation.

The Los Angeles County Fire Department received a 911 call about the incident at 8:47 a.m., with emergency responders arriving at the 26200 block of Valencia Boulevard eight minutes later. The student was taken to the hospital at approximately 9:10 a.m.

School officials confirmed that the crash did not occur on school grounds. Alcohol is not suspected to have been a factor in the collision.

The CHP Newhall Area Office is investigating the incident.
