One person was killed, and at least one other was injured in a suspected DUI crash involving multiple vehicles in South Gate early Sunday morning, March 2, 2025.
According to the South Gate Police Department, the crash occurred at approximately 2:30 a.m. at the intersection of Imperial Highway and Garfield Place.
Authorities reported that the suspect ran a red light and crashed into another car, causing both vehicles to collide with three others stopped at the intersection. The driver of the first vehicle hit was pronounced dead at the scene. Their identity has not yet been released.
The suspect sustained unspecified injuries and was transported to a hospital. They are expected to be taken into police custody on suspicion of driving under the influence.
At least one other person was also injured in the crash. The incident remains under investigation.
