A woman was fatally struck by a vehicle while crossing the street in Long Beach on Friday night, August 1, 2025.
According to the Long Beach Police Department, the crash occurred around 9:00 p.m. near the intersection of Atlantic Avenue and 36th Street.
Officers responded to the scene and found that a vehicle traveling southbound on Atlantic had struck a pedestrian.
The woman was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics. Her identity has not yet been released, pending notification of next of kin.
Police reported that the driver remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation. Officials noted that speed, distracted driving, and impairment did not appear to be factors in the collision.
Authorities continue to investigate the crash.
