An 86-year-old man died after being attacked by two Rottweiler dogs while walking in a Norwalk neighborhood on Saturday morning, September 6, 2025.
According to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, the man was walking around 6:45 a.m. on 166th Street at Graystone Avenue when the unleashed dogs attacked, causing severe bleeding from an artery in his left arm.
Two passersby intervened and attempted to render aid until paramedics from the Los Angeles County Fire Department arrived. The victim was transported to a hospital, underwent surgery, and was pronounced dead Sunday morning.
Authorities reported that the owner of the dogs cooperated with deputies, stating the dogs had escaped while he was looking for them. The dogs were taken into custody and will likely be quarantined by Los Angeles County Animal Care and Control.
A death investigation is underway, and the Medical Examiner will confirm the official cause of death.
Authorities continue to investigate the incident.
