[12-26-2024] Two Killed After Crashing Into Excavator in WilmingtonTwo people were killed in a vehicle collision involving an excavator at a construction site in Wilmington, Los Angeles, late Thursday night, December 26, 2024.

The incident occurred at around 10:32 p.m. on the 1200 block of West Anaheim Street, between Marine Avenue and Avalon Boulevard. 

Los Angeles Fire Department personnel and Los Angeles Police Department officers responded to the scene.

According to preliminary investigations, the driver was traveling at a high rate of speed on Anaheim Street when the vehicle collided with an excavator at the construction site.

One of the victims was trapped inside the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene. The second victim was transported to a nearby hospital, where they succumbed to their injuries.

The Los Angeles Police Department’s South Traffic Division is investigating the cause of the collision.
